Buffalo Ridge Airsports (BRA) offers instruction in trikes (see picture) and hang gliding. You can earn a Weight Shift Sport Pilot license or just learn to safely fly a single seat 103 legal ultralight. Check out the requirements for becoming a Sport Pilot on the Sport Pilot tab of our web site.

Students learn to fly a trike with an instructor in the back seat. For instruction, BRA uses the easy to handle Mustang Wing made by North Wing.

Introductory flights are avalable for those who would like to experience trike flight before signing up for lessons. Introductory flights are $60 for 20 minutes. Full flight lessons (approximately 1 hour) are $125 per hour.

Flight curriculum includes the following topics and operations in preparation for the Sport Pilot Practical Test:

Preflight, ground handling, take offs, straight and level flights, turns (shallow, medium, and steep bank turns), ground reference maneuvers, radio communications, visual flight navigation, airport traffic patterns, airspace, normal and short field landings, emergency procedures, and cross country flight.

Students get an introduction to hang gliding by flying tandem with an instructor. Tandem lessons teach students how to control the glider at altitide and how to set up landing approaches.

A training hill for beginner hang gliding is available for instruction at the flight park.

Two mountain sites are located at Tobacco Row Mountain within 20 minutes of Buffalo Ridge Airsports (BRA) flight park for hang gliding launches.
